Caring for our elders

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety began mid-January 2019, with the final report due on 26 February 2021.

It is a landmark inquiry for Australian residential and in-home aged care; an opportunity to get to the heart of the problems facing the sector and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to put in place real reforms to transform aged care services.

Interim Report

An interim report was released on 31 October 2019.

Titled Neglect, the report highlights the litany of failures in the system and made several immediate recommendations to government, including the need for more home care places.

National Seniors' contribution

Through our advocacy work we have contributed to many aged care reforms over the years, but we see the Royal Commission as an important opportunity to fight for more.

National Seniors has made several key submissions and appeared before the commission to prosecute the case for change on behalf of all older Australians. We are also actively lobbying government directly and through the media to get your voice heard.
