National Seniors' lobbying efforts focus on health and travel insurance. Annual premium increases, the erosion of government incentives and unexpected gap payments are rendering private health insurance increasingly unaffordable. This is particularly so for retirees on low, fixed incomes.

When it comes to travel, National Seniors research shows older Australians are paying more not only to insure against potential health costs but also their wayward luggage. These age-based presumptions are discriminatory.

National Seniors is working with the federal government and the industry for greater transparency in how insurance premiums are levied and applied to the over 50s.
