Queenslanders can now reach out to a palliative care service dedicated to helping support patients and their families.
The Palliative Care Information Service (PCIS) is a state wide telephone service that has access to more than 700 palliative care services in Queensland where professional staff can provide information about local services and palliative care as well as provide counselling services.
Staff provide this information and support to patients and their families who are affected by a terminal illness or are experiencing grief or bereavement.
The service is run by Karuna, a not-for-profit organisation that cares for hundreds of people a year who are terminally ill.
The service operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Freecall 1800 772 273 or visit [Link to http://www.palliativecare.org.au ] for more information.
