As we continue to work for longer, we need to make sure our skills are up to scratch.
The ageing workforce and growing shortage of skilled workers has resulted in a number of policies and programs in Australia to increase the participation of older workers through retraining and re-skilling.
Some programs see mature age workers who have trade skills but no formal qualifications to have their skills assessed and to undertake gap training, if needed, to gain a qualification.
Others focus on up-skilling experienced workers in order to train and support new workers, or retraining those who have been made redundant in order to re-enter the workforce.
