The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has published details of the scope and purpose for its three upcoming Melbourne hearings, to be held 9-11 September, 13 September, 7-9 October, 11 October, and 14-18 October 2019.

August hearings and forums


The Royal Commission moves to Brisbane, Adelaide and Rockhampton in August.

In addition to submissions and hearings, the commission is undertaking a series of community forums. 

These forums provide an opportunity for members of the local community to hear about the work of the Royal Commission and to offer ideas on the challenges faced by - and opportunities to improve, aged care. 

Brisbane


The Brisbane hearings will inquire into the regulation of aged care, with a focus on:

  • regulation of quality and safety in aged care and how aspects of the current regulatory system operate
  • different approaches to regulation, including in other sectors
  • how regulation and oversight of quality and safety in aged care could be improved.

When: Monday 5 August to Friday 9 August 2019

Where: Court 7: Level 2, Commonwealth Law Courts - Harry Gibbs Commonwealth Law Courts Building, 119 North Quay, Brisbane

Brisbane will also host a community forum, with Commissioner, Lynelle Briggs AO in attendance.

When: 9.30 am to 12.00 pm on Monday 19 August 2019

Where: The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Corner Merivale and Glenelg Streets, South Brisbane, QLD 4101

Adelaide


A community forum will take place at the date and venue highlighted below. Commissioner, The Honourable Richard Tracey AM RFD QC will attend.

When: 1.30 pm to 4 pm on Monday 12 August 2019

Where: The Auditorium, Adelaide Town Hall, 128 King William Street

Rockhampton


Commissioner, Lynelle Briggs AO will attend the Rockhampton forum.

When: 9.30 am to 12.00 pm on Tuesday 20 August 2019

Where: Callaghan Park Functions and Events Centre, Reaney Street, Rockhampton, QLD 4701
