Safe spaces for young people are more important than ever. For many children and teenagers, having access to a welcoming environment where they feel supported, valued and connected can make a profound difference in their lives.
These spaces provide opportunities to build confidence, develop positive relationships, learn new skills and access trusted mentors who can guide them through challenges. When communities invest in safe, inclusive environments for young people, they are investing in stronger futures for everyone.
PCYC Queensland delivers a wide range of youth programs designed to prevent social isolation, strengthen wellbeing, and support young people to make positive life choices.
These initiatives include leadership development, youth engagement programs, school holiday activities, community outreach programs, and support services that help young people build confidence and connections with their peers and mentors.
Equally important are the sport and recreation opportunities available through PCYC Queensland clubs.
Participation in sport provides more than just physical health benefits. It helps young people develop teamwork, discipline, self-esteem and resilience while building friendships in a supportive environment.
Across Queensland, PCYC clubs offer activities such as gymnastics, indoor sports, boxing, martial arts, dance, court sports, and fitness programs that encourage active and healthy lifestyles. These programs create positive pathways for young people while strengthening community connections.
PCYC Queensland is committed to providing more safe spaces for young Queenslanders with three new PCYC clubs on the way.
PCYC Caloundra South under construction
The tilt panels are up and the roof is on at PCYC Caloundra South in the growing Aura community on the Sunshine Coast.
Expected to open in late 2026, the new club will feature purpose-built youth spaces, gymnastics facilities, a “Little n Active” area, and a state-of-the-art 24/7 gym, creating a vibrant hub for young people and families.
Even before the doors open, PCYC Queensland is already delivering activities in the community, helping local young people build positive connections.
Sergeant Mark Haestier, Youth Club Program Manager for PCYC Caloundra South, said that the response to the Drop Ins in local parks has been outstanding.
“Seventy young people engaged positively, which is a sensational achievement. More and more teenagers are attending and starting to engage within the session,” he said.
Once complete, the new club will provide a safe and welcoming environment where young people can participate in programs such as Braking the Cycle, Youth Leadership Team, After Dark, and Drop In, while also enjoying a wide range of sport, fitness, and recreation opportunities.
The facility ensures more young people on the Sunshine Coast have access to positive pathways and trusted support networks.
New PCYCs coming to Pimpama and Beaudesert soon
The building of two brand-new PCYC clubs in Pimpama and Beaudesert is a significant investment in community wellbeing.
The new Beaudesert facility is being designed to support Scenic Rim families and young people through features including a premium fitness centre, basketball courts, and dedicated youth spaces specifically created for the delivery of PCYC youth programs.
PCYC Queensland Acting CEO, Mitch Ryder, said that the state-of-the-art new club at Pimpama will deliver vital youth development, crime prevention, and sports infrastructure to one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors.
“The club will include a purpose-built space for delivery of our youth programs, alongside a large Gymnastics and Little n Active hall, a Gym+Fitness centre and outdoor courts,” he said.
Guided by its mission of building safer, healthier communities through youth development, PCYC Queensland continues to play a vital role in supporting young people across the state.
The expansion of facilities in Caloundra South, Pimpama, and Beaudesert, combined with the organisation’s extensive youth programs and sport and recreation opportunities, demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that young people have access to a safe place to belong.
By continuing to invest in these spaces, PCYC Queensland is helping create brighter futures for the next generation.
