Fairer Concessions
This campaign provides information about concessions and will fight for fairer concessions Australians aged 50+.

The issue
Some government concessions are set too low, and many aren’t indexed annually to meet changes in living costs.

What we're calling for
We're campaigning for targeted concessions for those in need, free public transport and a seniors stamp duty concession. Plus, we are educating the public about concessions via our handy Concessions Calculator.

The benefits
Concessions help to reduce living costs, making life easier for older Australians, especially those with limited means.
Create a targeted Pensioner Concession Card Plus
With an estimated 23.7% of pensioners living in poverty, the federal government should create a targeted Pensioner Concession Card to provide additional support to those most in need.
Stamp duty concessions for seniors
We are calling on state governments to introduce a stamp duty concession for seniors to make downsizing more attractive.
Free public transport for seniors
We are calling for free public transport for seniors to help reduce congestion and transport emissions.
Minister for Older Australians
National Seniors Australia is calling for a dedicated Minister within the federal government to champion the diverse issues facing older Australians, such as discrimination, elder abuse, retirement income, health care and aged care.

More retirees get access to concessions
During the 2022 federal election, the Coalition and then Labor announced changes to income test rules for the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC). This has since been legislated meaning some 44,000 low income self-funded retirees now get access to valuable concessions, such as cheaper medicines through the PBS and state and territory-based cost of living concessions.
