Can you think of a good reason to buy a ticket in the Play For Purpose raffle? Well, we’ve got more than 200 of them.

That’s how many people who bought their tickets in the popular raffle through National Seniors Australia have won a prize. So far!

Two of those ticket buyers won the first-prize pack worth $250,000 – one in June 2023 and the other in March this year.

Here’s how it works: tickets are sold at $10 each, with NSA receiving half of that amount and the rest going towards the prizes and some of the costs associated with conducting the raffle.

In return, since May 2020, National Seniors has earned more than $200,500 from ticket sales to help fund our important research and advocacy work on behalf of older Australians.

“Every time someone buys a ticket and supports the National Seniors Australia cause, it helps us to continue our important work advocating and supporting seniors on issues like aged care, pension poverty, and cost of living,” said National Seniors CEO, Chris Grice.

What does it feel like to win? Well, we asked NSA supporters Ronan and Maura, from Manly in Sydney, who have been travelling around Australia on the Volkswagen Crafter Kampervan they won, along with more than $100,000 in cashable gold bullion, through Play For Purpose.

For Ronan, who only bought the tickets the night before the raffle closed, the win couldn’t have come at a better time, because he was pricing options for an interstate trip to see family,

“I actually tried to look for a campervan for our Western Australia trip. It turned out to be really expensive,” he said when he was first contacted about the win.

“It just was out of our price range. But now, we’ve got our very own!”

Maura added, “This is just wonderful. We’re retired, and we’ll make plenty use out of it.”

And that’s exactly what they did.

Earlier this year, Ronan told National Seniors, “We left the Gold Coast in August 2023, travelled north to Mackay, west to Longreach, Kununurra, Broome, Perth, Esperance and [we’re now in] South Australia.

“There are many things we enjoy about the van. The key one is its perfect size for two people. It is large enough to house all the conveniences to be off grid and yet manageable enough to drive like a car into towns and shopping centres.

“We are often stopped and admired by people wanting to get one themselves.”

The latest raffle offers the chance to win a $250,000 prize pack comprising a stylish BMW X4 xDrive 30i, an electric Mini Cooper SE, and more than $60,000 in cashable gold.
