Legacies living on
Find out how you can leave a legacy gift in your will to National Seniors Australia.
We appreciate the many ways we receive financial support from our members, customers and community. If you are considering leaving a legacy gift in your will to National Seniors Australia, you can find helpful information below.
As a not-for-profit organisation committed to giving older Australians a strong national voice, your contributions make a real difference. Together, we can build a better Australia for everyone.
We recommend you seek advice from a solicitor when drafting your will. Your solicitor can advise you on the different ways to gift and ensure that your will reflects your intentions.
You can specify any amount or percentage of your estate that you feel comfortable gifting to National Seniors Australia as a bequest, after having provided for your family and loved ones.
Every gift, of any size, will make a difference to our work. We have outlined below some of the ways you can leave a gift, however we recommend that you seek independent professional legal advice when finalising the wording in your will. We also suggest talking through your intentions with your family and loved ones, so they understand and support your gift to National Seniors.
Residual gifts
Choosing this option allows you to provide for your family and friends first before leaving the remainder of your estate to National Seniors. The value of a residual gift is determined after loved ones have been provided for and all expenses and claims have been paid.
Percentage or nominated portion
You can divide your estate among a number of people and/or organisations. Your gift to National Seniors can be a percentage or proportion of the whole of your estate, or of what is left over (the residue) after individual gifts have been made.
If you feel undecided about leaving a bequest in your will to National Seniors because you are unsure how much money will be available in the future, a residuary gift or nominated percentage might be worth considering. There is no need to nominate a specific value for your gift.
Specific gift
You can leave a specific cash sum, property, shares or item of value such as an artwork or a piece of jewellery of your choosing to National Seniors. Any amount, regardless of its size, will be gratefully received to help support our work for older Australians.
