NSA pushes to keep deeming rate freeze
From July 1, many pensioners could lose income and concessions if the government ends the deeming rate freeze — a move National Seniors Australia is urging them to reconsider.

From next month, 450,000+ pensioners and other support payment recipients could lose valuable income and access to concessions if the government lifts the current freeze on deeming rates (used to estimate income people earn on financial assets). A lift in deeming rates will make a hard time even harder for many people already struggling.
NSA’s call for government to continue the freeze on deeming rates – and for the government to create a fair and transparent method for calculating deeming rates in the future, was covered by 9News Friday night, helping NSA to inform our community and garner support for this important campaign.
