Libraries become gateways to aged care support
Information hubs have been set up around the country to help keep older Australians in the loop.
Sponsored Story

Seniors now have more ways to access aged care information and support, thanks to an initiative placing My Aged Care information hubs in 30 libraries across Australia.
This partnership between the Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is running until November 2025 and aims to make aged care services more accessible to seniors, their families, and carers.
These hubs offer:
Printed resources about aged care services and reforms
Opportunities to speak with knowledgeable staff
Help navigating the My Aged Care website and services
A chance to provide feedback on aged care experiences.
National Seniors Australia (NSA) has consistently advocated for better access to aged care information, and this program is a tangible step toward that goal.
NSA has long worked with the Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing and its predecessors in distributing information that is relevant and important to older Australians.
More than just books
Libraries have always been vital community spaces for older Australians. They offer:
Free access to newspapers, magazines, books, and audiobooks
Online resources including eBooks and digital learning platforms
Social programs such as book clubs, tech help sessions, and community talks
A quiet, welcoming environment for lifelong learning and connection.
For many seniors, libraries are trusted and familiar places, making them ideal venues for aged care outreach.
This initiative is a reminder of the power of collaboration between government and community organisations.
By meeting older Australians in a place where they already feel comfortable, we can ensure that aged care services are not only available, but truly accessible.
