Podcast tackles elder abuse
Participants sought to share their stories with others to inspire change.

Elder abuse is a big social issue in Australia, yet it remains under-reported and often hidden. Stigma, shame, and fear often silence those affected.
Elder Abuse Action Australian (EAAA) is trying to change this in many ways, including the launch of a podcast to “amplify lived and living experiences and raise awareness of elder abuse”.
EAAA notes that personal stories “have the power to break this invisibility, inspire change and offer hope”.

“The Breaking the Silence podcast will give a voice to those whose stories are so often hidden from view,” the organisation says.
“We’re inviting individuals to share their stories to help reduce stigma and advocate for real change.
“While we would prefer to hear from the older person involved, we would also be interested in hearing from others who have witnessed stories unfold.”
If you or someone you know has a story to share, sent an email to info@aeee.org.au stating:
