People from all backgrounds have been invited to join an informative webinar about palliative care.

Hosted by Palliative Care Queensland (PCQ) and including presentations from COTA Australia’s Patricia Sparrow and NSA’s chief executive officer, Chris Grice, the webinar aims to “enable participants to discover how the landscape of palliative care is evolving to better serve senior Australians”.

A spokesperson for PCQ said the webinar, on 2 October, would provide valuable insights into the latest trends, innovations, and policies shaping the future of care for seniors across the country.

“We believe that palliative care is everybody’s business, and we aim to build compassionate communities around people and their families experiencing serious illness, dying, death, and grief,” the spokesperson said.

This webinar is designed for all members of the community, including both health and non-health related workers (including healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, social workers, allied health staff, health administrative staff, spiritual care workers, health managers, health educators, pharmacists, and paramedics).

“We also encourage people from diverse backgrounds to attend,” the spokesperson said.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to gain knowledge and inspiration from the experts to enhance palliative care for Australian seniors.”

Along with presentations from Chris and Patricia, the webinar will include a question-and-answer session.

Areas expected to be discussed include cooperation between advocacy groups and palliative care providers, cultural sensitivities, equitable access to care in regional and remote places, and how healthcare workers can prepare for an expected increase in demand for palliative care.

The webinar will be held over Zoom on 2 October from 12-1pm AEST.

Registration, which is free for PCQ members, $10 for general admission, and $8 for Concession Card holders, can be made at events.humanitix.com/pcqwebinar2october2024
